Saturday Sept. 2nd 2017: String Quartet no 4 will be premiered by the Bingham String Quartet; 7.30pm at St Saviourgate Chapel, York. Commissioned by the York Late Music Concert series.
Monday Sept. 4th 2017: 'The Swan' for baritone and chamber ensemble will be premiered by Jeremy Huw Williams, who commissioned it, and Ensemble Cymru. 5.45pm at Bangor University School of Music concert hall. The text of 'The Swan' combines a mediaeval Latin sequence with the English version of the poet Fleur Adcock.
'The Swan' in its version for baritone and piano will receive its London premiere in a Lontano concert on November 9th, at The Warehouse.

On May 10th, Goldfield Ensemble gave a concert in the Lyons Concert Hall in York in honour of LeFanu's 70th birthday. Titled 'Invisible Cities and Imaginary Places', it included 'Songs without Words' (clarinet and string trio) and 'Invisible Cities' (clarinet quintet) and two Maconchy works. Solo violin pieces by Sadie Harrison were threaded through the programme, plus Murail and Sciarrino. A superbly played concert.
On May 16th, at the Ashmolean in Oxford, Cayenna Ponchione and OSJ gave the premiere of 'May Rain', which sets a poem by Kerry Hardie. The fine mezzo-soprano soloist was Charlotte Tetley. 'May Rain' was commissioned by Ponchione as part of her 'Water-Culture: Women's Work' song set.

Rondel for wind quintet was premiered in London on April 6th 2017 by the Mayo quintet, for whom it was written. It is a short work (10') designed to be accessible to amateurs as well as professionals, and it is dedicated to my cousin, flautist Lucy LeFanu.
